Babies Class

Every child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together® offers the special “Babies Class” as a one-semester introduction to Music Together®. (This class cannot be repeated.) The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.

Mixed Ages Class

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five – and through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers – grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go together. Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments.

We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience and any caregiver – parents, grandparents, nanny – can bring the child(ten) to class. To see a mixed ages class in action, check out this video at www.musictogether.com.

Bring your baby and use our scale, track your baby’s growth, and get guidance. One of our lactation consultants will be on hand to answer your breastfeeding questions. You’re welcome to use the scale whether you baby is nursing or formula feeding.

Edina: Tuesdays 1:00-2:00.

Whether you’re just with your baby or meeting up with a group of moms, pop in for an hour of playtime and companionship. You bring your babe, we’ll put out the toys, nursing pillows and music. A great way to get out of the house to a clean, baby-friendly place.

As babies get closer to their first birthday, language starts to develop. But until they master words, those little people can have big frustrations when no one understands them! Teaching your baby simple words in American Sign Language can give your baby a powerful new tool to communicate with you until they learn to speak. This class will teach you how to use simple signs with your pre-verbal baby, and tuition includes an instructional booklet. Price includes two adults in the same family, babies welcome too!

Infant Massage is an easy, powerful way for parents to provide comfort, learn to read and respond to their babies’ signals and deepen their relationship. Parents will learn massage techniques that help soothe and relax a fussy baby, relieve gas and promote restful sleep. This fun, interactive class provides parents an enjoyable way to learn more about their babies’ cues and development. Parents attend with their babies age 3 weeks through crawling.

Now that your baby has outgrown the newborn months, you’re ready to take on the next stage. This eight-week series is for Mamas with babies ages 3, 4 and 5 months at the start of class, or direct New Mama Class graduates.

Each class begins with a circle time filled with songs, finger plays, bouncers  and developmental play.  Moms are shown play ideas and toys to foster development and see how their babies are changing and growing.  Babies do tummy time in a circle to see their new friends while different aspects of development are discussed.

The parenting curriculum covers topics such as sleep & naps, feeding & introducing solids, temperament, safety & baby proofing, family dynamics, maintaining an identity while being a mom, the return to work or beginning at-home motherhood, and more.

You’ll take home a song sheet, weekly handouts on infant development, and our parenting topic of the day.

Your baby has gone from a “shoulder baby” to a wiggly roller! Celebrate this fun stage of babyhood in Rolly Pollies, our class for babies ages 6 to 9 months.

Play with the parachute, sing, read books, play with shakers and toys, give the babies a chance to explore a safe environment, and enjoy the company of other parents and caregivers. Our curricula covers many topics, for example:

• Sleep: night & naps
• Feeding, introducing a cup, finger foods
• Infant development: what to expect, what to watch for, and how to promote
• Sharing books and promoting early literacy
• Family dynamics and building the foundation of a strong family
• Self care, maintaining your identity, work-life balance
• Childproofing and safety for this age
• Play and ideas for playing with your baby
• Shaping behavior and the foundations of discipline

Tuition: $185 for a 12-week session

Becoming a Mama again? It’s different this time around! We’ll refresh your memory on the basics, like feeding, soothing, baby care, good sleep habits, postpartum adjustment, and returning to work. We’ll also discuss parenting more than one child, sibling issues, time and stress management, and learning how to manage a multi-kid family. Moms will be encouraged to share strategies with each other.

For Mamas with babies ages 0-4 months at the start of class.

Calling all Amma Mamas! Do you have a brand new baby? Come see why moms tell us this class is the best thing they did for themselves. Bring your newborn to a clean, baby-friendly environment and get help on all the topics of concern to new moms: feeding, sleep, soothing, vaccinations and pediatric visits, postpartum adjustment, emotions, returning to work, and more. You won’t find a more welcoming place for help and support than the New Mama Class.

This class is taught by Registered Nurses who are moms themselves. The perfect way to spend your maternity leave!
